Newsletter November 2015

Love - the only driving force out there, the only consolation, the only hope.    God is love and whoever does not have God has no comfort, no hope no love.    Wherein lies one’s lively hood, then?

Well, just like in the rest of the world the "buzz" around the Christmas festival season is quite strong here in Thailand.   It is the beginning of the high tourist season who escaped the cold Europe for the warm winter weather here in Thailand.    Everywhere you look festive decorations are being put up.    Buddhists join in the festivity together with the rest of the world and there are several reasons why they do this.    Common reason is simply to "party" and share in giving gifts.    But for those who knows what "Christmas" is all about will rejoice in the truth and the true meaning and an "other" excitement are experienced among them.    Praise the Lord for the growth that already occurs where the seeds of the Gospel have been sowed before.

Miaan Kramer (son of Marina's sister) are visiting us for the month of December.   We are privileged and excited to have him here with us in Kanthararom.  Miaan is doing well after his first week here in Kanthararom and adapt quickly to the culture and environment.    Although it is winter here in Thailand, Miaan says he is experiencing the same weather as back home in Paarl on its hottest in the summer.    But we must admit that we are experiencing an extraordinary warm winter so far.  The cooler weather (26grade) is probably still on its way.    At least he is enjoying the delicious Thai food and chose Tom Yum Kung before having a real South African braai (just joking)

Friends, you know that we have been praying (and you with us) for more than a year for a bigger ministry house.    God is so faithful and three weeks ago He gave us a house.    Our hearts are rejoicing in Ban Frontida (Ban is the Thai word for a house).    Currently we are working on cleaning and small repair works that needs to be done.    The house was standing empty for many years so you can imagine how dirty, dusty and neglected the house is.  We are very grateful when some of our friends from YWAM Ubon and three local Thai friends came to help in painting Ban Frontida.    The Frontida children are very excited because now there is a lot more space for them to move around and play.    The house will also be used to host outreach teams who will be visiting Frontida Outreach and will also be a base for YWAM in Sisaket Province.

Our Christmas Shoebox project for children and families are still on track.    We will have Christmas celebrations for our community on three different occasions: Saturday, 12 December ,  Saturday, 19 December  and Sunday 20 December.    We are looking forward to spend the time with the children and their families.  We praise the Lord for giving us the privilege to be able to have these get together among the unreached. Thank you so much for your donations, prayers and support for this.  Since our last newsletter our projects have increased in numbers.

Prayer requests:
• Friends, we still trust in God for the car we needed.     Please pray with us for God's provision.  His time is not our time.
• The Christmas Shoebox project has been fairly extended on the original idea we had.    Please pray with us for necessary funds needed to make the extra planned functions possible.
• Ban Frontida bring new challenges as well as extra monthly expenses.    Please join us in prayer for God providing the necessary provision that will cover the extra monthly expenses.  Also pray for purchasing of furniture and other necessities for the house.
• Please pray for me and Marina for inner strength, insight and wisdom in our work until we leave for South Africa end February 2016 for a home visit to family, friends and supporters.
• Pray for relationships that have been formed here in Kanthararom will continue to grow from strength to strength.
