Once again I had the privilege to visit “Jan”, our brother in Christ whom are in prison in Bangkok. I always look forward in visiting “Jan.” I visited him twice this week. Every visit is just 20 min long so you can just imagine how many words one “wants” to speak in such a short period of time. When the 20 minutes is up, a siren goes off and within 2 seconds, the phone lines are cut off. You can’t hear each other talk again through the thick glass panels that divide the visitors from the inmates. Both of us then stand up and we depart our own ways, I, the free man and “Jan”, the prisoner.
As I left the prison by train I was thinking – Aren’t we all prisoners of something? “Jan” is a prisoner for he committed a crime and is sentenced for imprisonment. But are we not all a prisoner of something? You might be a prisoner of “fear” or a prisoner off “lack of courage”, maybe you are a prisoner of “aggression” or a prisoner of “pornography.” Or even “alcoholism.” We all have something in our lives we are a prisoner off.
“Jan” committed a crime; he pleaded guilty and pays the price for it. A date has been set for him to be freed into society again, and believe me it is only after two decades from now are gone. But you, you can be freed of your “imprisonment” in an instant. Jesus Christ is waiting for your cry to Him out of your heart to break that chain of imprisonment you are in. Only Jesus Christ can help you, guide you. Only Jesus Christ can give you the insight, wisdom and power to be free from your imprisonment.
