Andre's Birthday - 19 July 2017

We invited some missionary friends of us from Ubon Ratchathani to join us serving at Ban Klaneam School on 19 July.  The Medina family (Dennis, Perlita, Jake and Sassy) are from Australia, Erin is from the US, Art, Jomi and Blessed are from Thailand.

It was my (Andre's) birthday as well and we were very honored and privileged to have served at the school with our friends.

A New football star 16 July 2017

Our goal is to establish a junior football team here in Kanthararom.  It is difficult at times due to a lot off factors that are playing a role.  We are patiently waiting on God to show us who we must add to the team and who not.  It sounds strange - even to us, but we have to be obedient to God's calling on this.

Sky (his nickname) is our latest addition to the team.  Sky is 8 years old and he enjoyed his first football academy experience very much.  It was the first time ever that his parents allowed him to go with "someone else" without them being present or so.  That alone is a huge step and breakthrough in relationship building and trust.

Our team is not fully operational yet in the sense that we can enter tournaments but we have patience on this.  We need 4 more students to complete our team and we know God will give us the right kids in time.

Obviously we treat the boys to a nice meal afterwards.  The only thing they want to eat is "steak" - remember in Thailand chicken steak and pork steak is their referral to "stake".  For these kids, this is something they never eat - meat.  They are used to rice soup or plain sticky rice with a dip souse or so.  So when you put a chicken steak or a pork steak with french fries in front of them . . . it is like heaven for them.

Intense Bible Study - 14 July 2017

Our weekly Bible study in the market is becoming more intense as I (Andre) can sense how the Holy Spirit is working among us all.  Currently we are studying "SIN" and looking at the various questions the people are asking, one can sense the holy Spirit is at work.  The purpose of the Bible study is for all walks of life here to learn more about God.  We cannot "convince" people to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior - only God can . . . but we can help them to know more and learn more about God.

Ubon International Church - 9 July 2017

Pra Kittikun Church pioneered a new church called Ubon International Church.  There is a need for a English speaking church in Ubon Ratchathani for there is a lot of foreigners who can not speak Thai fluently and it makes it harder to understand the Thai sermons and worship.  The church started on 2 July this year.  It was a privilege for me (Andre) to be invited to preach at the church last Sunday.  It was quite a hectic day as I shared Word in Sisaket the morning and the afternoon in Ubon . . . but as we all know - through God everything is possible.

. . . and we met some fellow South Africans who are teaching at a school outside Ubon who attended the church service.  What a wonderful surprise.  Looking forward to hook up with them again soon and enjoying a "real South African" barbeque together.

Sharing "unexpectatly" at Sisaket Church - 9 July 2017

One thing you learn from being a missionary here in the Isaan is that when you attend a church service, you always need to be ready for "just in case" the Pastor of the church asks you if you would share some Word for the morning.  As we attended the service at The Gospel Church in Sisaket last Sunday, it just happened that Pastor Samut asked me to share Word.  God's Word teaches us that we always have to be ready to share the Gospel wherever we find ourselves.  If you are willing to speak in truth the Holy Spirit will lead you on what to say.  One never has to fear for that.

The Holy Spirit led me to Psalm 23 and the Words to follow just came as the Holy Spirit lead me to it.  It was a great morning and new friends and fellowships were formed by new members of the church.

Jeddy was a exchange student in the USA for a year.  She just recently returned and she was translating for me.  She was wonderful, amazing and so brave to stand up and translate from "out of nothing" and with no "preparation" as well.  So proud of her.
